Advantages

The 2D codes are a type of graphic labels which can be used in many applications ranging from industrial traceability to the service rendered to the individual (information, services, payment / ticketing via mobile phone)

The 2D code has some advantages over other identification techniques:

  1. The redundancy: in a bar code, the same information exists on all the height of bars. Even if the bar code is destroyed on a certain height, it will remain mostly readable. This redundancy of the information about all the height facilitates the reading in front of defects of printing and in the conditions of use.
  2. The speed and the reliability of the reading: the bar code is a means of very fast identification. The decoding of a bar code is made by definition more quickly and with a risk of very tiny error than a seizure keyboard of a code by an operator (probability of error: 2 in 3 %).
  3. It has the advantage to be able to store a lot of information while being small and fast to scan. The QR Codes is one bar codes which can store until 7089 digital characters, 4296 alphanumeric characters (contrary to the "traditional" bar code which cannot him store that from 10 to 13 characters) or 2953 bytes (approximately 3ko).
  4. The increase in 2D code readers directly integrated into mobile phones easier to use.
  5. A low cost of return.
